Houndstooth Hat

Description

This bold hat in a classic houndstooth pattern is sure to turn heads!  Knit in chunky weight yarn, it will knit up very quickly.  Since the hat is knit in the round, there is no seaming, and you will always be working on the right side of the fabric.  The stranded yarn on the wrong side of the fabric acts like a liner, creating a second layer for extra warmth.  The small pattern repeat of the houndstooth stitch has several advantages.   It is easy to memorize, which means that you won’t need to slow down your progress by referring to the chart often.  Since there are at most 3 consecutive stitches in the same colour, twisting the yarns is not really necessary until the crown decrease.
